Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 5, 1982:

Our beloved father and grandfather was born October 5, 1913, near Durham, Marion County, Kansas, to Albert and Marie Dirks. He departed this life on February 6, 1982, at Scott City Hospital, reaching the age of 68 years and 4 months. Death was caused by congestive heart failure.
Father grew to manhood and received his education in Marion County, Kansas. At the age of nineteen he moved with his parents to Walsh, Colorado.
On November 8, 1936, he was married to Helen Marie Unruh at Durham, Kansas. To this union were born one son and three daughters. Of these children, two daughters (twins) died in infancy.
Our parents lived near Durham for several years then moved several times, residing in various locations. In 1954, we, as a family, moved to Scott City, Kansas, where Dad resided until his death.
At the age of twenty years, Dad accepted the Lord as his Saviour and was baptized by Min. H. J. Mininger on March 17, 1933, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
Dad was endowed with a talent for singing, and he often found comfort and blessing through song. He also inspired us as his family, as well as many others, by his willingness to share this gift.
In Dad's last years, which were often lonely, we felt in him a keen love and appreciation for his children and especially for his grandchildren.
Dad worked for many years as elevator operator and feed mill employee. The last years of his life he found employment in janitorial and yard work in Scott City. He was a man of conservative values yet a strong believer in God, in right and wrong, and the way a person should live while on earth. Although he was acquainted with life's challenges and failures, he was an honest and diligent person as it related to his work, never charging more for his services than what he thought they were worth.
He leaves to mourn his departure: one son, Calvin and wife Mary Ann: one daughter, Christina and husband Jim Koehn, all of Marienthal, Kansas; brothers: Abe, Russell Springs, Kansas; Howard, Marienthal, Kansas; Marvin, Floyd, Albert Jr., Maurice, all of Scott City, Kansas; sisters: Elsie Ratzlaff, Lillian Schroeder, both of Scott City, Kansas; Norma Unruh, Galva, Kansas; Elizabeth Koehn, McPherson, Kansas; Willetta Ullom, Montezuma, Kansas; ten grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters and his parents.
Funeral services were held February 9, 1982, at Scott City Mennonite Church, Scott City, Kansas, with Ministers Robert Koehn and Richard Koehn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
