The death of Joseph L. Newcomb occurred at 3 Saturday morning at the home of his stepson, John E. McPhee, Pine Point, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 15 days. Mr. Newcomb was the son of Elisha and Mary (Hill) Newcomb and was born at Old Orchard, but has been a resident of Boston, Mass., practically all of his life. He was a member of Thacher post, G.A.R., of Portland. He is survived by one son, Frank, of Dorchester, Mass., and one stepson John E. McPhee, of Pine Point, with whom he made his home for the past few years, and one step-daughter, Ida E. McDonald of Barre, Mass. Biddeford Weekly Journal, November 4, 1921
