Frank Leroy Bellant was a native near Flint, Michigan from the community of Davison Township. He graduated high school in 1965 from St. Michael High School. His parents were Charles I and Mabel Saxon Bellant. He had an older sister named Frances and an older brother named Charles (Jr.).

Frank joined the Navy and was sent to Vietnam. He was a fireman on the USS Du Pont DD941 where he was assigned as a boiler operator and fireman. On August 28, 1967, enemy gunfire attacked the Du Pont and killed Bellant. He was 20 years old.

Frank Leroy Bellant was brought home and buried at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in Genesee County, MI. His name is on the wall of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC.
