Birdie was the daughter of John Brown and Margaret Meadows Starkey. She married John Potillo on July 25, 1922 in Poplar Bluff, MO. They later divorced. She loved to make quilts and other crafts. Anyone who visited her came away with a gift of some sort, and she always had bottles of cold Pepsi in her fridge for guests. Birdie and John Potillo had six children, two of whom died as babies.
