Rites Monday for Mrs. Povall heart victim
Funeral services for Mrs. Necie Herbert Povall, who died suddenly Sunday of a heart attack, were held Monday afternoon at First Methodist Church. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Officiating minister was the Reverend Crawford Ray with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born at Acona, Mrs. Povall was a lifelong resident of Holmes County.
She had retired in the spring of 1965 after 22 years as Holmes County Selective Service Board Clerk, and was employed in recent months as secretary at Credit Bureau of Holmes County.
As a member of First Methodist Church of Lexington, Mrs. Povall had been active in church work and had served as church organist for a number of years.
She was the widow of the late Benjamin Beall Hooker and the late Cass Oltenburg Povall, and the daughter of the late Stephen Herbert and Mary McRae.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Earl Hooke, Jr., of Utica; a son, Henry S. Hooker of Memphis; four sisters, Mrs. E. E. Rhea, Mrs. R. F. LaCroix and Mrs. L. Alexander, all of Memphis, and Mrs. E. H. Herbert of Montgomery, Alabama; a W. B. Herbert of Memphis; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Alton Parker, Ervin McRae, Murrell McRae, Ray Johnson, Pat Barrett, Homer Daniel, A. B. Holder, and Theo Moses. Honorary pallbearers were the Board of Stewards of First Methodist Church.
