WILSON GILLIAM GWIN
Wilson Gilliam Gwin, 84, of Tchula died of heart failure on Saturday, October 31, 1998 at Methodist Healthcare Middle Mississippi Campus.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Officiating ministers were Rev. Dale VanNess and Rev. Howard Allen. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gwin was a Holmes County native and a lifelong resident of Tchula.He was a graduate of Gulf Coast Military Academy and attended the University of Mississippi. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lexington where he served as a deacon. He was an avid golfer and was a member of The Mississippi Seniors Golf Association, and the Masonic Order. He had also served as an alderman for the City of Tchula. Mr. Gwin was a planter with Cooper Plantation.
Survivors include: wife, Mary Jane Wilson Gwin of Tchula: daughters, Jane Gwin Burnett of Austin, Texas, Susie Gwin Webb of New Orleans, Louisiana and Mary Gwin Smith of Jackson, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Wick Eatherly, Charlie Mac Wade, Paul Sharpe, Byron Sharpe, Jr., Garrard White, and Oliver Harris.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons and elders of the First Presbyterian Church, Crawford Logan, Jr., Byron Sharpe, Sr., Frank Gwin, Jr., Guy Duke, Edgar Gwin, Jr., Warner Wales, Tom James, Bill Murtagh, Pat Barrett, Bernard Jones, and D. C. Scott.
