William Young's First and Only Sickness Results Fatally - Lived Here Forty Years.
After five hours' sickness, the only illness he ever suffered in his life, William Young, aged 86 years, died at his home, No. 4479 Laclede avenue, at 12:55 a. m., yesterday, of heart failure.
Saturday last he spent downtown engaged in his occupation as an insurance agent. He was born in new York and had lived in St. Louis for the past forty years.
He learned the dry goods business in New York, and when he came to St. Louis became a member of the firm of Young Bros.' & Co., wholesale dry goods merchants, on Main street. The firm dissolved in 1868, and Mr. Young engaged in the insurance business, in which he remained until his death.
In 1858 he married Miss Amelia Coonce, who survives him. He also leaves four daughters, Mrs. Sarah Y. Humphreys, Mrs. Amelia Collins, Mrs. Laura Gashwiler and Mrs. William G. Todd. His two sons are Arthur and Felix W. Young.
The funeral, which will be private, will take place next Wednesday at 2 p. m. Services will be held at his late residence and conducted by the Reverend Dr. Day, pastor of the Church of the Messiah. The burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery."
