Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Aug. 16, 1962

Nixon-Funeral services were held on August 8, for Mr. Delbert B. West who passed away in Smiley. He had attained the age of 70.
Survivors include his companion, 3 daughters, Mrs, Hazel Gould of Gonzales, Mrs. Bernice McCorley of Batesville nd Mrs. Inez Webb of Smiley; 2 sistersIvaWest and DaisyAllen of Smiley; and three brothers, John of Eldorado, Will of Gonzales and Hiram West of Cuero and 9 grandchildren.
The services were held at the Finch Funeral home in Nixon with Rev. J. F. Emory, pastor of the Assembly of God church in charge at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial was in the Pilgrim cemetery. Don Finch was the funeral director.

Last Rites For Delbert West Held August 8

Nixon—Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 8 at 10 a.m. at Finch Funeral Home in Nixon for Delbert West of Smiley ho passed away suddenly at his home there about 4 a.m. Monday, August 6. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Emory, Rev. John Will Ward, and Rev. Harwood. Burial followed in the Pilgrim cemetery. He was born in Sept. 1891 near Pilgrim to Louise Matilda Lee West and John Mason East. He had been a resident of Gonzales county most of his life.
The deceased is survived by his wife, the former Mary Leigh, 3 daughters, Mrs. Hugo (Inez) Webb of Smiley, Mrs. J. D. (Hazel) Gould of Gonzales, and Mrs. I. V. (Bernice) McCarley of Batesville. Also two sisters, Miss Iva West and Mrs. Daisy Allen of Smiley, and three brothers, Hiram West of Cuero, Will West of Gonzales, and John West of Eldorado.
