Born in Moultrie, Jessie was an active member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in Cordele and a former member of Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald where she worshipped and fellowshipped for over sixty years, teaching Sunday School and visiting shut-ins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Oliver Clark, general manager of Fitzgerald Mills until his death in 1964. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Marie Dunn, Maude Ellis, Grace Minix, Nell Fussell and Peggy Horton, and brothers, Pete Cobb and John Cobb.

During her lifetime, besides being a wife and mother, she worked as a textile worker during World War II weaving tent fabric. She owned and managed a grocery store and the Colony Court Motel which was later converted to Fitzgerald Nursing Home. After her husband's death, Mrs. Clark and Miss Virginia Seigler founded and operated C&S Drug Store until her retirement. She served two terms as a member of the school board in Fitzgerald. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an avid gardener.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Will "Butch" Henderson and Bob and Kay Stewart; one sister, Irma Pendarvis; a brother-in-law, L.C. Fussell; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Allen Clark and Ann Henderson, Joe and Lee Ann Oesterling, Steve and Leslie Curda, David and Mendy Henderson, Bobby and Christie Stewart, Max and April Ward, and JJ and Jennifer Stewart; 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
