OBITUARY
John A. Metz
John A. Metz was born June 22, 1882, and departed this life May 25, 1943, at Kearney.
He was 60 years, 11 moths and 3 days of age. He was the second son of John D. and Emma V. Metz. Born near Minden, he moved with his parents to Kearney where John grew to manhood.
He was united in marriage to Miss Carrie C. Bruck on January 30, 1906; and to this union were born four children: Geraldine Elva, Vance Carl, Kameron Burton, and Verona Arbutus.
He was on the Kearney police force for several years and also served one term on the city council.
Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn five grandchildren, two brother, B. Frank Metz, of Pleasanton, Guy H. Metz of Bridgeport; three sisters, Mrs. Ward Miles of Angora, Mrs. Blanche Pinkston of Ogallala, Mrs. Elizabeth Shanklin of Alliance, besides other relatives and friends.
His oldest sister, Mrs. Mary (Alvan) Lund, and his parents, preceded him in death.
All the immediate family are present with the exception of Kameron B. Metz, C. B. M. U. S. Navy, who was unable to get leave.
