Squire Green, the son of Thomas Green and Lavina Kermickle, was born on July 18, 1825 in Grayson County, Kentucky. He was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth Ellen Payton, the daughter of Walter Payton and Sarah Harvey. They were the parents of: William W. Green (b. 13 Apr 1847), Margaret A. Green (b. 2 Aug 1852 and her twin (who died the next day). Elizabeth died on August 26, 1854 in Grayson County. She was buried in the McCandless Cemetery on Sopring Lick Road, east of Yeaman, Kentucky.

Squire Green married second wife was Susan Fentress, the daughter of Elijah Fentress and Priscilla Landrum, on April 22, 1856. They were the parents of: Sarah E. Green (b. 29 Mar 1857) Joseph Cicero Green )14 May 1860) and Eva Green (b. ca 1864).

Squire Green died the age of 50 years, 11 months and 3 days on June 21, 1876 in Grayson Count. He was buried with his first wife in the Macandless Cemetery.
