In Loving Memory of
HUGH "ED"WARD ATKINS
Ed, a loving husband, dad/pop, brother, pawpaw, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 66. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy, and six children: Sam Maute (Lori), Tony Maute (Gwen), Eddie Ray Atkins (Katie), Tammy Jean Gailey (Jerry), Tammy Stevens, and Wendy Tryon (Sam); eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Michael Maute and sons, Clayton and Dayton, Tracy Maute and son, Christian, Nakoda Smith Gailey, Carissa and Vanessa Stevens, Timothy, Thomas and Natalie Tryon, Ryan Maute (Amanda)/Brittany and Alexis, Darren Maute (Nicole), Blake and Sydney and Kristen Maute currently in Iraq; brothers and sisters; Bill Davis (Bev), Martha (Butch) Mate John), Sammy Kay (pumkin) Baughman (Jim); brother-in-laws; Grant Frye and Clarence Williams (Sharon, Cathy's sister), and many beloved nephews and nieces. Ed came from Oklahoma and resided in Mojave for 48 years. He felt fortunate to be hired by California Portland Cement and eventually retired after 30 years with fond memories. He had great mechanical abilities, as there wasn't anything he couldn't fix!! He was a pleasure to be around with his sincere, honest and polite nature. He always had a "Smile" on his face and constantly displayed his "Okie" hospitality with a "yes ma'am or no sir". He never met a stranger and was blessed with numerous friends. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him. We thank the Lord for having Ed in our lives and are grateful that he's found peace, until we meet again. Please join us at Stickel Mortuary, 2201 Inyo St., Mojave, Calif., on Friday, Dec. 4th from 6pm-8pm for the viewing. The Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 5th at 9:30am at the Assembly of God Church, 16207 "M" St. (between Belshaw and Cerro Gordo). Immediately following the services, a buffet lunch will be served at the Mariah Inn on Highway 58 in Mojave.
