Sena and her husband John Henry were married July 25, 1900 what was then known as Boechenville, between Cole Camp and Stover, Missouri. They had eight children:

William John Ernest (1907-1993),
Edna Christina Sophia (1909-2001),
Clarence Claus Henry (1911-1988),
Glenna Ethel Elsie (1916-1985),
and Adolph Albert Andrew Ficken (1918-2015).
She was raised a Lutheran and always belonged to a Lutheran Church, though in her final years she attended Immanuel United Church of Christ in Sedalia, Missouri because she lived nearby.
Sena spoke German as well as English.
