Rev. George Curtis BROWN was born on 7 Mar 1912 in Maple Grove, Allen Co., Kentucky. He died on 24 Jun 1997 in Bowling Green, Warren Co., Kentucky. He was buried in Memorial Gardens, Allen Co., Kentucky.

George married Eura Faye KEPLEY daughter of Jesse Lavada KEPLEY and Mettie Ethyl LINVILLE on 1 Apr 1934 in Allen Co, Kentucky. Eura was born on 28 Jun 1916 in , Macon Co, Tennessee.

They had the following children:

i. Annie Marverine BROWN was born on 25 Jun 1935 in Adolphus, Dog Trot, Allen Co., Kentucky.
Annie married Rev. Lonnie Virgil BONDS Jr. son of Lon Virgil BONDS Sr. and Pernie PERDUE on 1 Jun 1950. Lonnie was born on 12 Jun 1932 in Allen Co, Kentucky. He died on 7 Feb 2004 in Allen Co., Ky.. He was buried on 9 Feb 2004 in Memorial Gardens, Allen Co., KY.

ii. Harold Gene BROWN was born on 16 Apr 1947 in Adolphus, Dog Trot, Allen Co., Kentucky.
Harold married Brenda Ann COOK daughter of Embrey COOK and Rosie Rulene SHRUM on 23 Jul 1967. Brenda was born on 7 Dec 1946 in , Sumner Co, Tennessee.

iii. Freddy Joe BROWN was born on 24 Feb 1950 in Adolphus, Dog Trot, Allen Co., Kentucky.
Freddy married Carolyn Jannice TRACY daughter of Lonville Odell TRACY and Cora Janice HUNTSMAN on 24 Aug 1971 in Allen Co, Kentucky. Carolyn was born on 24 Nov 1953 in Scottsville, Allen Co., Kentucky.

Rev. Brown accepted Jesus Christ at Macedonia Church in 1924, at the age of 12 years. In 1928, he united with Garrett's Creek Church and was baptised.
Ten years later in 1938, he moved his membership to Maple Grove, as he was then living in the community. On April 2, 1963, he joined Scottsville First General Baptist Church as his home was then in Scottsville and his membership remained there as of 1987. He answered the call to the ministry in 1931. In Sept. of 1934, he was ordained to the full work of the ministry by the Presbytery of the Mt. Union Association at Shady Grove Church in Allen County, Ky. His pastorates have been in the Mt. Union and Portland Associations as follows:

Rev. Brown didn't have an accurate record of his ministry as his house burned Dec 24, 1941, and his records were burned, but he has preached in more than 35 revivals, witnessed more than 128 conversions, baptised more than 61 candidates, conducted over 30 funerals, and performed several marriage ceremonies. He has served two terms on the program committee of the Sunday School Convention. He also helped in two new church building programs. Rev. Brown was a faithful and efficient minister of the Gospel and loved the service of the Lord.

Rev. Curtis Brown, 85, of 846 Holland Road, Scottsville, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The Allen County native was a retired General Baptist minister, a retired painter and a member of Scottsville First General Baptist Church. He was a son of the late James Walter Brown and Mary Anice Hawkins Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Eura Kepley Brown, Scottsville; two sons, Harold Gene Brown and Freddy Joe Brown, both of Scottsville; one daughter, Marverine Bonds, Scottsville; one brother, Bascom Brown, Scottsville; one sistrer, Lela Wheeler, Scottsville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Tom Franklin,m Walter Herman, and Ona J. Brown; five sistes: Bessie Graves, Lucy Rippy, Jessie Nell Dalton, Jewell Ruth Marsh and Sindy May Brown.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 1997 at Goad Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Thurman officiating. Burial was in Allen County Memorial Gardens.
