Farrell were married 17, Nov 1887 at Fort Smith, Sebastion County, AR. just accross the Arkansas River that devided these two places.

Sarah and James fist made their home as husband and wife in the township of Kully Chaha, Choctaw Nation I.T near present day Cameron, Le Flore County, Oklahoma. This was the birth place of both their daughters Ollie Catherine and Ila Alice. In 1921 the Farrell family moved from Newburg, Oklahoma to Casa Grande, Arizona.

Both Sarah Jane Ritter and her husband James Taylor Farrell were born to civil war veterans of the Confederate States Army.

Sarah's parents were some of the early pioneers of Indian Territory who boldly traveled west as many were sometimes with friends and family on the same few routes leading west to Fort Smith, Arkansas from their home places back in Mississippi and Alabama after the Civil War.

In later years the first cousins of the Ritter, Farrell and Bowlin families were still in contact coresponding with one another between Arizona, California and Oklahoma.

After Sarah and James Taylor Farrell relocted to Chandler, Arizona from Newburg, Oklahoma her brother Leander Hawkins Ritter eventually moved to the same location.

Leander Hawkins Ritter was a Pastor of a Nazarine Church in Chandler, Arizona where the Farrell family had also resided. After he moved to California family gatherings would always be held whenever he came back to visit in Arizona.

Sarah Jane's daughter Ila Alice Cannon also joined the Nazarene Church along with Ollie. Both were charter members.
