Obituary: Arizona Republic Tuesday, December 4, 1945; Last Rites Set For Physician: Funeral services will be held at 9 A.m. tomorrow in St. Francis Xavier Church for Dr. John L. Hagan, 71 years old, prominent physician, who died Sunday night in his home at 346 West Lewis Avenue.
The rosary will be said at 8 o'clock tonight at the J. T. Whitney funeral home.
Dr. Hagan, a native of Independence, Ia., and a graduate of the Tilfords Collegiate Academy of Vinton, Ia., and Northwestern University, Chicago, began his career as a practicing physician in Arizona about 1900 in Bisbee, whence he came after finishing internship at Hotel Dieu, Sisters Hospital of El Paso, Tx.
He served for some time as Bisbee city physician, moving from that city to Wichita, Kan., where he practiced until 1920, then returning to Phoenix. In 1924 he became staff physician at the Copper Queen Hospital at Bisbee, in which capacity he continued until he moved back to Phoenix in 1913 to engage in private practice.
Dr. Hagan was a fellow in the American Medical Association, a member of the Arizona State Medical Association and the Gila County Medical Society. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Cap. John P. Hagan, U.S. Army; Lt. Comdr. Frank M. Hagan, U.S. Navy, and Edward William Hagan, a student at St. Mary's Boy's High School.
Death was attributed to a cerebreal hemorrhage.
