Susan L. Gerred, age 50, of Abilene, TX, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, in Abilene, TX.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Quanah First Baptist Church with Reverend Monte Lumpkin, minister of Goodlett Baptist Church officiating and Interim pastor Rev. Ron Fox assisting. Burial will follow in Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.
Susan was born on August 15, 1959 in Quanah to Dale and Helen Gerred. She was a graduate of Quanah High School and Midwestern State University with a degree in Recreation. An Abilene resident since 1991, Susan was the supervisor of the City of Abilene Recreation Department and retired earlier this spring. She previously was supervisor of the City of Wichita Falls Recreation Department for 10 years. She was the current President of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation, was an avid cyclist and Baptist.
She is survived by: Father and Mother, Dale and Helen Gerred of Quanah, TX. Two Brothers: Barry Gerred of Altus, OK, Eddie Gerred of Whitesboro, TX. A Niece and two Nephews, Jenifer, Chris and Jason, Great Niece: Leah, Great Nephew: Cade
Visitation will be from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorials be given to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 681, Quanah, TX 79252 or T.A.A.F. Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1789, Georgetown, TX 78627
