Ida Dark Ackerman, 83, of Naples, Fla., died May 11, 2010.

She was born July 16, 1926, in Bradford, Ark.

She was a member of the Gulfshore congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Naples and loved sharing Bible truths with those she met.

Ida loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for her giving heart, quick wit and beautiful smile.

In 1944 Ida married Charles Ackerman, and together they lived in numerous parts of the United States and the Bahamas while raising their family. Following her retirement as manager of the Arkansas Traveler Folk Theater in Hardy, she continued her passion for traveling.

She is survived by her former husband and father of her children, Charles Ray Ackerman; her four children, Tony Ackerman and wife Tish of Mountain Home, Brad Ackerman of Alton, Mo., Sam Ackerman and wife Lee of Naples, and Lori Ackerman Cornelius and husband John, also of Naples; one brother, Dewey Dark Jr. of Cherokee Village; two sisters, Betty Padgett of Claremore, Okla., and twin sister Ada Tevis of San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Ona Dell Dark; brothers, Howard Dark, Harris Dark and R.A. Dark; and a sister, Anna Laura Vore.

Ida's life was celebrated by her family and friends at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Naples, FL.
