Joseph R. Lavigne a former Saco resident, died Sunday at an Old Orchard Beach nursing home. He was 89 years old.
for many years Lavigne was a motorman-conductor on the Biddeford-Saco Electric railway and later worked in a similar capacity with the Portland-Lewiston Interurban Railway company. he retired several years ago.
Active in the Masonry, he was a member of Dunlap lodge F. & A. M of Biddeford a 32nd Degree Scottish rite Mason, Bradford commandery, K. T., and the Kora Temple, Order of the Mystic Shrine. He was a life member of Adah chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
surviving are a son, Carlyle H. Lavigne of South Portland, Two daughters, Mrs Barbara Harmon of Portland, and Mrs. Hazel McIntyre of Portsmouth, N. H., Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at 11 Mellen street, Portland with the Rev Raymond L. Gillis officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Biddeford.
