James Rice Beadles was born about 1839 in Illinois. On Jan 16, 1882 he filed for military pension claiming himself as an invalid. He was the son of Rice and Delia Beadles. He is found living in Mercer County, Missouri in 1870 with his parents and siblings, including brother Nathan. In the 1890 Vetern schedules, he is living in Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri along with his brother Nathan, who had enlisted and departed the army on the same dates and was in the same unit. In 1900, he is living with his brother Nathan and family in Pilot Grove, Cooper, Missouri.

According to the booklet, written by Dianne Peck, she was puzzled about why James Beadles was buried there and how none of the local residents could remember a Beadles family living there. She was thinking maybe he had died in the war and was buried there for convenience. I found James' son Harvey S Beadles, with wife martha and their 7 children living in Cole, Benton, Missouri in 1930. That would explain why James was buried there. By 1939, the family had moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He had been living with his son and family in the 1920 census, in Baird, Callahan, Texas, but by 1930 was no longer there. I assume he probably died sometime between 1920 and 1930 when the family had moved to Benton County and they buried him there and moved on. However, I am unable to find a Missouri death certificate for him.
