Dr. Dykes was born in Taft May 20 1925 and died at West Side District Hopital Sunday.
Dykes was raised and educated in Taft and was a member of the graduating class of 1943 at the Taft Union High School. He attended USC and then graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and attained the rank of captain.
He practiced dentistry in Taft for many years and was a member of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Dykes was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. H.R. Dykes, and two brothers, Dr. Robert Dykes and Dr. Jack Dykes. His survivors include his wife, a son and his wife, his son, three daughters and their husbands, two step sons and their wives, a step daughter and her husband, two brothers and their wives, a sister and her husband, 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and by his special and dear friends.
Those who wish may call at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Wednesday from noon until 8:30 p.m. to pay their respects.
