`Samuel was the son of Samuel Jackson May and Alpha Lucy Dale. He married Celia DeLaPaz on 3 October 1942, they had one daughter Gloria Isabel May. Celia was born January 6, 1920, and died November 2, 1976, burial location is unknown. Samuel wrote songs and sang with "The Sons of the Pioneers" during the 1940's. He also served in the United States Marine Corps.
