Leesville - After many years of pain and illness, William Aubrey Long entered into peaceful rest on May 13, 2010. He was born April 21, 1934, to the late William Ansel and Lucille Derrick Long. Aubrey was blessed with many talents, very successful in many business ventures, and with the help of God, these ventures included farming, ranching, federal USDA inspector, hardware store proprietor, used car dealer, Land Clearing and Logistics Service, and he was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was most successful at being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, as well as being a dependable and well-respected friend. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Smith Long, his children, William "Billy" Long (Sharon), Tina Baker (Lawrence), Kathy Penland (Mark), grandchildren, Brandon Long (Jessica), Bryce Long, Brad Long, Lauren Baker, and Aubrey (A.J.) Steele, a great-granddaughter, Keegan Long. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Heyward Counts, Dude Smith, Hope and Ben Drafts, Mike and Deborah Smith, and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Hall, and a nephew, Ronnie Hall. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. J. Hilton Roof and Rev. Jeff Lageman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad and Alex Counts, Todd Williamson, Bryan Smith, Craig and Jeremy Drafts, Eddie Hallman, Randy Barnes and Jim Elliott.
