"PROMINENT CEDAR TOWNSHIP MAN DIES"
T.B. Thrasher had lived all his life in county - Ill only short time.
Theodore B. Thrasher, aged 73, for years one of the best known citizens in Cedar township, died at 7:20 Christmas morning at the Thrasher home, seven and one-half miles northwest of Washington.
His death came at the end of a very brief illness and was entirely unexpected to his family and friends. Last Friday evening he contracted a slight cold and his condition did not appear at all serious, but he became very ill yesterday morning and died before medical aid could reach him.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday afternoon at the Jones and McElhinney funeral home and will be conducted by Rev. W.R. Stryker of Washington, assisted by Rev. A.J. Unthank, pastor of the Prairie Flower Baptist church, near which the Thrasher home is located. A quartet composed of Mrs. Earl Phillips, Mrs. Roy J. Teets, Orva Scott and Pearl Phillips of the Prairie Flower church will sing at the funeral. Burial will be at Elm Grove.
Mr. Thrasher was born in Washington, Sept. 24, 1851 and was a son of Rev. Rhodem Thrasher and Catherine Lease Thrasher . His death occurred on the 48th anniversary of his marriage to Samantha Kincaid, which took place on Christmas Day 1876. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Miss Martha Gray Thrasher, also brother Woodrow Thrasher of California and one nephew, Fred Crawford of Fairfield.
When a young man, Mr. Thrasher worked for a time in the Parkinson lumber yard here and then took up farming, which vocation he followed for the rest of his life. Strict integrity and neighborliness were characteristics of his life which made him one of the most highly esteemed men in his neighborhood and among the circle of friends who today mourn his death. "Never a better neighbor lived than Mr. Thrasher" said one who lives on a nearby farm today. His sudden taking away is a shock to the community in which he had moved for so long."
