Alvin F. Ziemba, 57, of 1024 Universal Drive, died Wednesday. Born in Simpson, Pa., he was a son of the late George Stanley and Mary Ann Bird Ziemba. He was a retired Air Force major, after 23 years of service, and was employed by Shenandoah Life Insurance Co. since 1970. He was a founding member of the Columbia Model Railroad Association and commander of the American Legion Post No. 55. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marifred Lebhart Ziemba; a son, Richard Ziemba of Denver, Colo.; daughters, Marianne and Barbara Ziemba and Mrs. Joanne Fineberg of Columbia and Nancy Gleaton of Lugoff; brothers, Leonard Ziemba of Rochesterm N.Y., and Joseph Ziemba of Philadelphia; a sister, Mrs. Ann M. Kuntz of Centralia, Mo.; and grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 13 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, conducted by Monsignor Louis F. Sterker. Military rites will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The Rosary will be recited at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 12 at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
