Rodham Tellis Mayes son of William Mayes and Sally Wolf. he had 3 known sisters. Nancy Mayes {Corbin} Matilda Mayes {Pendergast} and Suzanna Mayes. He was married to Anna M Offenbacker. They had 13 children, 7 males, 6 females Mr Mayes lived to be 91 yrs old and was still farming at the time of his death. He proudly raised his 7 sons who grew up to be distinquished gentlemen of the Stanley Community. He built a two story log cabin in the Mill Creek section of Stanley. There he and his wife, Anna, would raise their children. He was a very industrious and noble man throughout his long life. He also had 6 sons in the great Civil War. Lorenzo, Henry, James, Rodham, George, and Thaddeus Mayes. All these brothers served throughout the period of the war. Rodham also had several tracts of land in the Page County area. Somewhere near 400 acres total. The biggest tract of land was located where the old "mayes" cabin still stands containing 123 acres. Rodhams grave as well as his wife Anna is simply marked with a flat stone with no lettering or date of death. Family records were preserved to allow this information to be available.
