My father, Benjamin O'Toole, Sr. was the father of eight children and was a retired machinist after having worked for many years at Yale and Towne, Inc. in Philadelphia. He was well loved by his children and grandchildren.
My father enjoyed softball quite a bit. When he was young, he played and when he got older he coached. He coached his company team at Yale & Towne and took me to many of his games. One of my brothers, Harry, also worked at the same company and I got to watch him play ball also. When I think of those times, I am happy.
I also remember the company picnic once a year at Willow Grove Park (no longer in existence.) Our whole family went. There were dance contests and one of my sisters and brothers would join, plus there were the amusements. What good times we had there. Eventually, the picnic was moved to West Point Park. Although that was nice too, things were changing with our family. We were growing up, going our separate ways, doing different things.
There were other good times also, trips to Atlantic City, trips to lakes in South Jersey. I will always treasure those times in my memory.
Today, March 29, 2007, I have finally discovered where my father's paternal grandparents are buried. I searched for a long time and at last I know where they are.
In July 2009, one of my father's grandsons, Albert F. O'Toole, Jr. went home to be with the Lord. I'm sure my parents and his 2 uncles greeted him.
8-12-12 - Pop, today, Danny joined you and Albert, Jr. and Mom and all of the O'Tooles and Ferros who have gone before him. He suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and in the past week or so, was at his worst. He was in pain, couldn't eat or drink. He died at home.
Pop, really watch over him. I know how close you two were and you both loved baseball.
3/19/14 - Pop: Yesterday our Harry went to be with the Lord and has now joined you, Mom, Benny, Bobby, Albert, Jr. and Danny. He is at peace. My brother Johnny joined a lot of the O'Tooles in Heaven on March 21, 2015.
Pop, yesterday, July 18, 2015, Sissy has now joined all of you in Heaven.
In 2016, Antoinette passed away and has been with you for a few years now.
In January 2021, my sister-in-law, John Sarah O'Toole known in our family as Joan D. passed away.
On March 10, 2021, our Mary O'Toole Koller passed away.
On August 8, 2021, the last O'Toole male, passed away. Albert F. O'Toole, Sr. joined all of the O'Tooles and other relatives in Heaven, including his own son, Albert F. O'Toole, Jr.
