John Armstrong, who had been ill for several weeks at the Wayside Mission Hospital, died at midnight. He was a soldier in the Eleventh calvalry during the Phillippine campaign. During the Battle of San Mateo he was thrown upon the pommel of his saddle and never fullly recovered from the injury.
