Son of--
Fred Edgar Riggs
and
Abigail "Abby" Bennett Riggs

-----

Clifford was born on the RIGGS FARM,
in Manchester, Oklahoma, located about
3 miles south of the Rosedale Church of
Christ, in Rosedale, Oklahoma. The
Rosedale Church and Cemetery was founded
and built by Clifford's maternal grandparents
James Jones Bennett (1851-1934)
and
Minerva Frances Hayes Bennett (1853-1935) (who are buried in the
Rosedale Church Cemetery).
-----
Clifford Riggs did NOT have a middle name,
so when Clifford was registering for the
military and/or CCC, he had to provide
a middle name. Clifford 'made up a middle
name' by choosing to use the name of a
relative, that of Jesse Chester Riggs
(1897-1983)--a paternal uncle and younger
brother to Clifford's father Fred Edgar
Riggs. SO, JESSE then became Clifford's
middle name! Thereafter known as
CLIFFORD JESSE RIGGS!
-----
Clifford lived with his parents as a
youth in Oklahoma. By 1915, his parents
had relocated to Kansas. His father
worked as a farmer and later as an agent
for the railroad.

By 1930, Clifford moved to California
and worked as a laborer and well driller,
while living for a short time with his
mother's younger sister, Aunt Mary
Elizabeth "Betty" Bennett Scott
and her husband Laurel Flynn Scott.
[NOTE--Laurel Flynn Scott and wife Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Bennett Scott are my maternal grandparents. dht]

In Apr 1930, Clifford worked and lived
on a farm in Pond, Kern, California,
as a farm laborer, for Mr Dennis Rush,
Farm Mgr.

On 3 Mar 1939, Clifford "Jesse" Riggs,
was joined in marriage to Virginia Mae
Watts (1912-2013).

There were two children from this
union--
Kenneth Lee Riggs
Curtis Allan Riggs

By Apr 1940, Clifford and Virginia were
in Bakersfield, Kern, California.
Clifford worked as a Warden for the
County Forestry Dept.
-----
Clifford's paternal Aunt Bertha E Riggs
married into the famous musical DINNING
Family. Bertha was the younger sister
of Clifford's father. Bertha married
John Boyd Dinning Junior (1886-1962).
In 1910, in Parsons, Alfalfa, Oklahoma,
John Boyd Dinning Junior (1887-1964)
and wife
Bertha Ethel Riggs Dinning (1891-1965)
lived and worked a farm near Clifford's
parents who were also farming. The DINNING
children were first cousins with Clifford.

[NOTE: If you search YOUTUBE for the
DINNING SISTERS, you can watch and listen
to some wonderful 'soundies' {something
like current day musical video song
productions}. Bertha's son (Mark Max
Edward Dinning) was also musical and
made several record productions that
are also on YOUTUBE. The DINNING SISTERS
worked with many well-known singers of the
1930s-1950s.]
