Mr. Robert Brian Shiflett, age 73, Rome, passed away Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012, in a local hospital.

Mr. Shiflett was born in Floyd County on March 21, 1939, son of the late Robert Spinks Shiflett and the late Dorothy Margaret Yates Shiflett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Trammell Shiflett, by a sister, Dixie June Shiflett, and by a brother, Ronnie Ted Shiflett. Mr. Shiflett was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for a number of years with General Electric here in Rome. He was a former President of the Rome-Floyd County Young Democrats and was a member of the North Broad Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Andrea Sebesta, and her husband, Gary, Kennesaw; a son, Marc Shiflett, Rome; 2 grandchildren, Patrick Sebesta, and his wife, Lindsay, Marietta, and Mrs. Lyndsey Taylor, and her husband, Nick, Kennesaw; 2 brothers, Rodney Shiflett, Rome, and Tim Shiflett, Summerville; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 11am at the graveside in East View Cemetery. Dr. Talmadge Barnes will officiate with his brother, Tim Shiflett, delivering the eulogy.

The family respectfully requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
