Wylie died in the Green Mountain train wreck near Marshalltown, Iowa, leaving four children under the age of 10, including my grandmother Arlene.

Waterloo Semi Weekly Courier
March 25, 1910

W. W. Eggers, who was among those dead from the first, lives at 517 Second street east. His death is a particularly sad one and well illustrates the uncertainty of things, and the possibility of our plans suddenly terminating. Mr. Eggers was about thirty years of age. He came to Waterloo some years ago and for the past three years has been employed by the Corn Belt Auto Company. Prior to that time he ran a garage for himself at the corner of Fifth street east and Sycamore Ave.

He resided with his family at 515 Second street east. His wife and their four little children left for that place today accompanied by Mr. Eggers' mother. It is presumed the remains will be sent to Nora Springs, his former home, for burial.

Note: I have started a Virtual Cemetery for victims of that train wreck. Further information is welcome.

BJB (family) story: Wylie and Maggie lost two children, Ruth and Ivan, who died in infancy or before.
