Conard Price Nichols, 78, of Columbia died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Boone Hospital Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia with the Rev. John Foley officiating. Burial will be in Riggs United Methodist Church Cemetery in rural Sturgeon. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the funeral home. Mr. Nichols was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Boone County to Oscar Odon and Lucy Sims Nichols. He married ?? on Aug. 17, 1947, in Armstrong, and she survives. He was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and worked with area contractors. He was a member of the Red Rock United Methodist Church of rural Harrisburg and of the Masonic Lodge, AF & AM, of Barlow, Ky. He also was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Odon Nichols of Columbia and Terry Lee Nichols of Ottumwa, Iowa; a daughter, Nancy Ann Rapp of Columbia; three sisters, Elizabeth Woolfolk of Centralia and Ellen Louise Nichols and Fay Toalson, both of Columbia; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Conard Price Nichols Jr.; two brothers, Kenneth Nichols and Ray Nichols; and a sister Josephine Fox. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
