Birth: Oct. 21, 1883
Death: Apr. 25, 1940

Following one month's illness, Miss Tempie Abt, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. T.B. Abt, died at her home in Mt. Vernon Thursday afternoon last. She was 56 years of age and is survived by three sisters and four brothers: Mrs. S.A. Lynn of Lyons and Mrs. Flora Adamson and Mrs. H.J. Fountain of Mt. Vernon; T.B., L.W., and Charles Abt of Mt. Vernon and John W. Abt of Atlanta.

The care and sorrows incident to her mother's death just a month ago forced her to bed - for the first time in her life, and sad to say, the last time. She was an outstanding example of the quiet but busy life, seldom leaving home, but interested in the fine things in life. She was a gentle, modest creature. Her home was her castle and in it she lived and labored; yet she looked beyond the walls to the higher things of life. Her last days were fraught with suffering, but with other virtues she complained not.

Funeral services were held at the Mt. Vernon cemetery Friday 4:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. R.L. Robinson of the Mt. Vernon Baptist church, assisted by Rev. George F. Erwin of the Methodist church, of which she was a member. Rev.
M.A. Shaw of Lyons also took part in the service. Rev. R.E. Rainey sang.

Pallbearers were E.E. Burch, L.C. Underwood, T.G. Peterson, B.C. Anderson, W.B. Morrison, and Herman McBride. Flower girls were Mrs. R.W. Geiger, Margaret, Blanche and Grace Lynn and Jewel Abt, nieces. As far as possible the funeral arrangements concide with the service held for the mother
one month earlier, and with few exceptions the plan was carried out. Sammons of Soperton arranged the burial services. The floral offerings were beautiful - a beautiful tribute to a beautiful life.

Though there may be a mountain high which you cannot seem to climb, in the valley just below, God's peace and love, He will bestow.
