POLK, Harold BEAUFORT - Mr. Harold Daniel Polk, 66, of Beaufort, died Tuesday afternoon, December 18, 2007 at the Roper Hospital in Charleston. Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, December 21, 2007, from Rich Patch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the Church Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be: Larry Crosby, Michael Crosby, Lanier Crosby, Paul Pye, Bryan Padgett, and Lamar Godley. Serving as honorary escorts will be members of the Shrine Club and Hudson Masonic Lodge. Mr. Polk was born August 21, 1941, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Bernice Harold Polk and the late Mary Crosby Polk. He worked for seventeen years for Dayco in Walterboro and was a retired supervisor for the South Carolina Employment Commission. He was a lifelong member of Rice Patch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Islandton. He was a member of Hudson Masonic Lodge No. 373 A.F.M. where he was a Past Master, the Mount Pleasant Shrine Lodge and the Scottish Rites - Valley of Charleston. He will be remembered for his love of fishing and the devotion he had to his family, being a great husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Surviving are: his wife of forty-seven years, Mrs. Joyce Colson Polk; a son, Danny Polk and his wife Angie of Goose Creek; two daughters, Cindy Polk of Islandton and Brenda Lyons and her husband Jack of Islandton; a sister, Mary "Sissy" Padgett and her husband Kenneth of Columbia; and a brother-in-law, Gene Colson and his wife JoAnn of Charleston. There are four grandchildren, Hope Lyons, Brandy Lyons, Mikey Hartley and Hannah Brunson that also survive. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorials be directed in his memory to the following: Rice Patch Cemetery Fund, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton, SC 29929; or to Colleton County Relay for Life, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, N. Charleston, SC 29406. Family and friends are invited to call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. this Thursday evening at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro. 843 538-5408.
