A son of Bert Brown & Mary F McIntire Putney, he married Lois Jeannette Shaw in 1922 in Galesburg, Knox County, IL.

We learn that Mr. Ernest Putney and Miss Lois Shaw surprised their many friends by quietly slipping away to Galesburg last Saturday and were united in marriage at eight o'clock, Jan. 21 by the Rev. Mr. Wakefield, pastor of the First M.E. church, at the parsonage. The happy couple expect to make their home in Stronghurst.

Father of Ernest Jr, Hubert Allen, Mary Ellen, Frederick Earl, Lois Vernile, Paul, Kenneth, and Larry Gene Putney.
