Aubrey "Brownie" Brown went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 3, 2010.
He became a member of Harbor View Missionary Baptist Church 8 years ago, at the age of 79.
Aubrey was born in Tuscaloosa, AL, on November 7, 1922.
After serving in the Marine Corps, during WWII, he moved to Toledo where he met Rissie Childress. He and Rissie were married for 53 years before her passing in 2002.
Aubrey and Rissie had 3 children, Ronnie, Winona and Mary. They also had 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His sister, Netta May and brother, Douglas are his remaining siblings from a family of 15.
Aubrey worked at L.O.F. for 33 years before his retirement in 1975. He was also a volunteer fireman for Oregon Fire Dept. until his retirement at the rank of LT.
Aubrey would like to thank his friends at V.F.W. Post #9816 for their friendship and service to the community. He served as Post Commander 2 times and has held the office of Chaplain several times and is the current Chaplain.
Aubrey wanted to say thank you to friends of Fire Station #3 for their friendship through the years and for all their help recently.
He would like to say a special "thank you" to Kathy and George for always being there for any and everything asked of them, to Betty for the prayers and compassion and to Marty for all of your prayers and the hundreds of pineapple upside down cakes.
Finally to my family, I want to tell them that I fought a good fight for as long as my body would let me, but I just got tired and at the end, I just wanted to go home to meet the Lord and to be with Rissie once again.
"I want each of you to always remember what I say to you at the end of every conversation. 'I Love You' and until I see you again, Be good and take care of yourselves."
Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. where V.F.W. and Lou Diamond Marine Corps League services will be held at 7 p.m. followed by Oregon Fire Dept. services. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Aubrey will be laid to rest next to Rissie at Lake Twp. Cemetery.
