Robert Marion Hammer, 83, of
Leon, who died September 3, was
born July 2, 1876, near Pleasan-
ton, in Linn county, and was mar-
ried in 1895 to Annie Mae Larson.
A retired farmer and stockman,
blacksmith and carpenter, Mr.
Hammer had been a resident of
Burtler county 77 years and for 50
years lived on a farm near Leon.
His parents were Laban & Martha
(Morris) Hammer. He was a
member of the Little Walnut
Baptist church and for 32 years
served on the Tony District school
board.
Surviving are Mrs. Hammer,
two daughters, Mrs. Robert Brent
(Grace) of Wichita, and Mrs.
Edna Costa of Woodland, Calif.
Services were at the Dietz-Pitman
Funeral Home Saturday, the
Rev. Seymour Bruce of Onaga
officiating. Mrs. Paul Hudson,
Charlotte Frogge and Arleta
Hammer were the musicians. The
casket bearers were Roy Gaskill,
Ralph Hammer, Lelo Hammer, R.
Myrl Hammer, Lloyd Gray and
Harry Hammer. Honorary bearers
were Alva Gaskill, Lonnie
Hammer, Art Thompson, Ira
Hammer, Lawrence Hammer, Bert
Gaskill, Guy Hammer, Lloyd
Hammer and Perry Gaskill. Mesdames
Raymond Walter,S. E. Anderson
and John Crowley were the flower bearers.
Interment was in Blankenship Cemetery.
