OZAWKIE --- Daniel "Paul" Smith Jr., 78, Ozawkie, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Smith served with the Army 4th Engineers, 1st Division, in Europe and was employed as a maintenance painter for Topeka Unified School District 501 from 1960 until his retirement. He also had worked for the school district in Great Bend from 1975 to 1980.
He was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Topeka, the son of Daniel P. Sr. and Martha M. Mallory Smith. He lived in Topeka until 1975, and then in Great Bend until 1981. He moved to Ozawkie from Topeka in 1991.
Mr. Smith attended Rock Creek Bible Church at the time of his death. He was a member of the Assemblies of God.
He married Blanche M. Pratt on March 26, 1951, in Columbus, Ga. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Gayla Joy, and her husband, Don Rayls, Topeka; and grandchildren, Joshua Paul Douglas, Topeka, and Jonathan Patrick Douglas, serving in the Army in Germany.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Military honors will be conducted by a funeral detail from Fort Riley. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.

The office confirmed that neither have any record of an internment in this cemetery. The office does have Daniel as being only the property owner for evergreen lot 130, space 3, I did not confirm ownership of space 2.
I removed my photo of the unmarked location to reduce confusion. The photo that I posted did show the correct locations for Evergreen, lot 130, spaces 2, and 3, again, no internments at these locations.
