DOUGHERTY, Richard Lee
Born April 17, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa. Passed away April 11, 2010, in Sylmar, Calif., after a lengthy illness. As a child he was with RKO orpheum doing soft shoe dancing with showgirls in Vaudeville acts. He formed a liaison with Jack Northrop, a neighbor of his before serving in the U.S. Army. Afterwards, he worked for Northrop for 27 years as an analyst. Hes proud of helping the community of Palmdale become a city, cooking at the delicious civic feeds and at the Totem Pole Ranch. He will be greatly missed by friends and associates. He had a passion for civic affairs with the City of Palmdale and Totem Pole Ranch. Survivors include Joanne Garrett who was fortunate to enjoy his company for awhile, nephew Larry Thornton and wife Toni, and niece, Linda Thomas and husband Dale. He was preceded in death by his talented wife of 49 years Claire W. Dougherty. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2010, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
