Second Lieutenant Kordsmeier was the pilot of
B-29 Superfortress #44-69747, serving with
the 873rd Bomb Squadron, 498th Bomb
Group, during World War II.

He was Killed In Action when his bomber
crashed into Fubo Mountain, Miyagi, Japan, in
bad weather while on mission to Tokyo.

All eleven crew aboard were killed.

This is a memorial cenotaph.
Hubert is buried in the National Memorial
Cemetery of the Pacific, at Section P, Site 1151
