Ted's parents moved their family to Oklahoma when ted was about age 4. He was raised in Canadian Count and Custer County, Oklahoma
On April 2,1919 he was married to Katie Palmer in Thomas, Oklahoma. To this union were born four children; Christian Douglas "CD", Ira Francis "Jack", Kathryn Louise, and Ray Eugene "Tuney".
Ted and Katie started their married life on a farm near Guymon, Oklahoma. Their farm was located near Ted's grandparents, Edmund Augustus (Civil War Verteran with the Iowa 29th Infantry) and Emma Wildman Pope. Also close by were his cousins Frank Wesley and James Wilson Pope; and Odie and Aidee Pope King. Ted and Katie lived in Guymon until December 14, 1919; then moved back to Thomas. He attended McPherson College in Mcpherson, Kansas (1915-1916). He was an electrical engineer and worked for the Utilities Companies of Oklahoma. He retired from the Grand River Dam Authority after 20 years with them.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; sons CD and Jack; brothers Claude Edmund and Ruben Orris Burger; sisters Audrey Fern Stump, Mabel Ruth Frosch, Emma Cecile Hines, Minnie Marie Keith, and Stella Nadine Godfrey. He was survived by his wife Katie, daughter Louise, son Tuney, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brothers Raymond Glen and Gerald Allen Burger, and sisters Grace Ester Tenney and Irene Vivian Mayo.
