At age 17, James married Nancy A Shipley, who was 23 years of age at the time. They had 2 children, Tom H Hardin and Mary Jane "Polly" Hardin. He served in Co. G, 7th Alabama Reg and died in the CSA Prison Camp at Rock Island at age 22 along with almost 2,000 others, of pneumonia. Submitted by his 3rd Great Grandson, Dave Robison.
