Shirley is the daughter of Ralph and Viola Marie Buzzell Rainey, who are buried in Afton, Lincoln, Wyoming. She had one brother, Ralph Dee Rainey, who passed away in 1995. Shirley never married, but loved her cats like they were her children. She worked for many years for the Telephone Company and retired in 1980. She did many needlepoint pictures and crocheted many lovely things.
