John D Draper former resident of this community died at Kirksville Sunday at the age of 87 years
Mr. Draper was born in Mattoon Ill in 1859. He was first married to Miss Katie Burns and to them were born six children, three proceeded him in death, but the surviving children are Walter Draper, Salisbury: Mrs. Anna Heck, Cedar Rapids Ia, W H Draper, Oroville, Washington.
They came to Missouri from Illinois in 1900 and lived west of Prairie Hill for a number of years. The wife and mother died in 1909 and he later married Mrs. Nancy Daughtery in 1933. They resided in Marceline until they moved to Kirksville about a month ago.
He is survived by his wife and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2Pm Tuesday September 3, at McLaughlin's Chapel in Marceline conducted by the Rev. W Dean Rainwater, Baptist minster and burial at Mt. Olivette cemetery in Marceline. Pallbearers were L.T. McKinney, Charles Edgar, Frank Teeters, Clabe Oliver, Clarence Scott, and William Wiseman
