Hazel is the daughter of Henry Smith and Elsie Mae Heath, she was married on 17 Jun 1930 in Decorah,Winneshiek Co.,IA. to Verne William Harcey.

They are parents of three male children.

Utica - Minn. - Mrs. Verne Harcey, 71, Utica, died of cancer Sunday evening at the National Health Enterprise, Rochester.
The former Hazel Smith, she was born Sept. 14, 1902, in Whitehall, Wis., to Henry and Elsie Smith and moved to Winona County in 1923. She was a 1923 graduate of the Eau Claire, (Wis.) Normal School and taught school for seven years prior to her marriage on June 17, 1930, in Decorah, Iowa. She was a member of the Utica Presbyterian Church and its women's organization, was superintendent of the Sunday school and also taught Sunday school for a number of years. She belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America and the senior citizens group at Utica and was a leader of the Utica Victory 4-H Club for 15 years.
Survivors are: her husband; two sons, Ronald, Shakopee, Minn., and Philip, Okabena, Monn.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Lyle Smith, Whitehallo, and three sisters, Mrs. Edna Thompson, Whitehall, Mrs. Genevieve Heath, Strum, wis., and Mrs. James (Leona) Olson, Osseo, Wis. One son has died.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Utica Presbyterian Church, The Rev. Don Drury officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery here.
Friends may call at Sellner-Hoff Funeral Home, St. Charles from 4 p.m. and then at the church after 1 p.m.
