SHUGART, Lillian Lois
95, was born to William and Maude Baxter in Midland, Kentucky on August 19, 1914. She went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Lillian came to California in 1927, with her parents and five brothers. She married Robert Shugart in 1935 and moved with him and their growing family to Mojave in 1945, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Lillian was a faithful Christian, and she and her husband were members of the Mojave Assembly of God for many years. Always kind and loving, Lillian was never one to anger quickly. She was a patient and gentle person who always focused on the positive, and wouldn't gossip or speak negatively about others. Above everything else, Lillian was a loving mother and grandmother. She always had time for you, and never turned anyone away. It is a remarkable thing to be able to say that while many of us try (and fail) to live by the Golden Rule, Lillian actually did so: she treated others the way she wanted to be treated. Lillian was a genuine, humble woman who will be mourned and missed greatly. Lillian is survived by her loving children, Bobby and Wilma Shugart; Betty Leddick; Barbara and Mike Bannister; and Linda and Mel Langford. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Robert, her devoted husband of 55 years, preceded her in death. In addition to family, Lillian leaves behind a legacy of love, patience, and gentle good humor, for which all of us who knew her will forever be grateful. Services will be held Wednesday, April 7, at one oclock in the afternoon at Mojave Assembly of God Church located at 16027 M Street in Mojave. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00.
