LELAND DOLAN NORRIS
Funeral services for Leland Dolan Norris, 77, were held at the Blockton Christian Church October 6 conducted by Rev. Scott Marcum. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Blockton. Mr. Norris died October 3, 1987 at Lucas County Hospital, Chariton, Ia.
Leland Dolan Norris, son of Albert and Nora [Hudson] Norris was born in Redding, Ia. January 21, 1910.
As a child, he joined the Redding Methodist Church and attended high school in Redding, Ia.
On July 19, 1934 he was united in marriage to Mildred Lorene Brown at Albany, Mo. Dolan and Mildred were the parents of a son Harold Dean.
For several years Dolan was engaged in farming in the Blockton vicinity. He also worked as a carpenter and was employed at the Blockton elevator. His interests were gardening, fishing and he was active in the Blockton Saddle Club.
Dolan was a proud grandpa and enjoyed the love, companionship and devotion of his two grandchildren, Kevin Dean and Karla Maurine, and Kevin's fiancé Michelle Puckett.
Dolan was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Nora; his wife Mildred; and two sisters-in-law Catherine Norris and Madge Norris.
He is survived by his son, Harold Dean and his daughter-in-law Jacki; grandchildren Kevin Dean and Karla Maurine; three brothers, Cleo Norris of Cedar Rapids, Ia., Paul Norris of Independence, Ia., and Harold E. Norris and his wife Leta of Cedar Rapids, Ia. Also surviving him is a sister-in-law Maona Stermole and husband Joe of Des Moines; four brothers-in-law Kenneth Brown and wife Virginia of Grant City, Mo.; Rex Brown and his wife Bernice of Blockton; Elton Brown and his wife Jodean of Clearfield; and LaVern Brown and his wife Annabel of Bedford, Ia.; several nieces and nephews.
Dolan will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
