John William Lloyd, named after his father John and grandfather William, was the only son and 3rd child of John Lloyd and Sally (Phillips) Prevost.
His father John enlisted in the 15th Michigan Volunteer Infantry, Company "A", as a Private 12 April 1864, one day after his birth.
He never knew his father, as he died 5 months later.
He worked variously as a longshoreman, watchman, and farmer.
On 15 Sep 1886 in Charlevoix, he married Sarah Helen King, the daughter of Joel B. & Helen King.
John W. & Sarah had a son:
1. David Lee, born 8 Apr 1891 in Eveline Twp., Charlevoix County, Michigan.
John and son David worked in Detroit in the 1920's. By 1940 he was in Charlevoix, living alone at 35 Mercer Blvd; his son remained in Detroit working for the Packard Motor Car Co.
