Harold B. Bond, of Dagobert Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the VA Medical Center, Plains Township. Born April 18, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Oliver and Ruth Baird Bond. He was a graduate of E.L. Myers High School, Class of 1940, and a U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Division, Veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. Harold was formerly employed by Trion Industry, Wilkes-Barre, for many years. Prior to his retirement, he was a member of the VFW Post 283 Kingston. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bond, in 1997. He is survived by son, Jack A. Bond, Dallas; daughter, Patti and her husband, Frank Swanberry, Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Virginia Williams, Lansdale, Pa., and Lois Shugar, New Providence, Pa.; and brothers, Jack Bond, Plano, Texas; Charles Bond, Plains Township, and Harmon Bond, Kunkle. Funeral will be at the convenience of the family. Their will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas. Arrangements are by the Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre.
