Roy Linzee Tutill, murder victim. I am writing this memorial as someone who remembers this murder - both his parents having died. This murder shocked me at the time as it occured in the vicinity of the River Mole, near Leatherhead. I had been riding to that area by bicycle or scooter, during my spring holiday, and felt that, if seen, I could even have become a suspect. Roy was murdered by Brian Lunn Field, who abducted Roy, who was travelling home from school, whilst he, Field, was visiting his wife and new born baby in hospital. Place of burial is unknown to me. Roy Tutill lived in Brockham, a village which lies one mile to the south of Box Hill, in Surrey. I had discovered the little railway which used to serve the limeworks, and which has now been removed. The River Mole winds through that area. Field was arrested after being stopped for drink driving, thirty three years after the murder. This fact may convince many that a national DNA database for all might be in order.
I understand that information I have previously published here may have been defamatory to Roy's parents, and, indeed, am surprised at what my memorial contained. I acted from memory and even mispelled the surname. Unfortunately I do make mistakes in these memorials and am pleased to be corrected, so retract that information unconditionally with apologies for any offence or hurt caused to Roy's family.
